2014 is coming to a close, and we are about to begin 2015. 2014 was a year of celebrations at the World Cup in Brazil, the Ebola crisis, the ice bucket challenge, and Donald Sterling's downfall. These were just a few of our national and international news stories in 2014. Now, what’s next? I encourage you to think about what your personal “top news stories” were for 2014. As 2014 is coming to a close and Father Time is getting closer to midnight on December 31, ask yourself, “What were my accomplishments and milestones this year?” Think about what went well. Reflect on your learning points and your accomplishments. Twelve months is a long time. You grew this year, and you helped others grow. Take time to reflect and learn from your 2014 experiences. As challenging as 2014 was, 2015 is likely to be even more so. Learning from your most recent accomplishments and challenges will help you increase self-awareness and set your 2015 success strategy. 2015 isn't even here yet. It is still just a glimmer in our collective eye, but it promises to be a challenging and interesting year. See this clip from Morning Joe on MSNBC about some of Time Magazine’s predictions for 2015. You may need to click on the video window to get it to play. This is a good time to think about what market changes are occurring in your industry. Take time to plan how you and your team can be positioned for success. Think about what skills you will need and what new knowledge or innovations you or your team members may need. Plan now for challenges that may come your way. I don't know anyone who has a functional crystal ball that can tell us the future. But if we take time now to anticipate what the Baby New Year will bring, we can adapt as needed and stay competitive. A well-facilitated brainstorming and planning session would be perfect for January. This will accelerate your team’s 2015 success. Plan your session today. Give me a call if your team would benefit from a strong facilitator. We can set a date. I wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season. I look forward to working with you in 2015, creating solutions and enabling optimal performance for you and your team, no matter what the Baby New Year will bring. ‘Tis the season for a lot of things – good times with family and friends, parties, celebrations, shopping, wrapping gifts, and lots of delicious treats. What's to not like about the holidays? On the other hand, we all know the holidays can be stressful. Sometimes we try to fit too much "fun" into a short period of time. Some of us will go back to work after the New Year feeling exhausted and drained instead of relaxed and rejuvenated. Here are some tips for making sure you feel at least a little bit refreshed after the holidays.
You already know these recommendations. I just wanted to give you a quick, refreshing reminder. Now, let’s go enjoy the holidays! I wish for all of you a very happy holiday season and a prosperous and healthy new year. I look forward to staying in touch in 2015 and wish you all the best. |
